The first Missionaries of St. Charles-Scalabrinians began our apostolic work among the Italian Migrants in Brazil and the United States. Once the European migratory current ended, we opened our field of missionary activity to the new migratory flows of the Caribbean and Latin America. This new challenge in our ministry led the Congregation to become present in the countries where the Migrants came from. The objectives of this presence were: to learn more about the culture and traditions of these countries, to raise awareness among the Church and local society about the phenomenon of migration, to assist migrants at the borders, and to prepare new missionaries.
